DAY 22 July 10
With the tide out, the beach is massive.
305 kms + ferry
It was raining today so I didn't sit on the patio to watch the fishermen bring in my lobster LOL. Sat on my porch and watched the tide go in and out. And had a nap of course. All that fresh air.
Went to the favourite restaurant in town. also connected by a causeway. small town 500-+ people. I of course had the lobster chowder full of big chunks of lobster. Yummy
Finally went in the water up to my knees. It was actually quite warm and so clear.
Made it to Lockeport and my Crescent Beach. My cabin. Small but just built and very nice. Hosts are great! Anything you need.
More of the colourful buildings. It is difficult to photograph the streets as they are narrow and mostly one way. More fishing villages.
On my way to Lockeport I came across Crescent Beach. The beach where I am staying at the cabin is also called Crescent Beach. Weird. The road is built on a sandbar. Very cool.
DAYS 26-27 July 14-15
Me
Not much to say. Sat on the beach for 3 days and ate seafood of course. The sun came out on the 12th and 13th. Was lovely.
The owner, with a drone, spotted this school of herring just off our coast.
Difficult choosing from this menu~~Above is lobster ceasar salad and pan seared scallops
Today's drive was quite boring. Not much besides trees. A small part of today was a lovely view along the st John river. The photo is from the internet in the fall. No viewpoints or places to pull over for a photo.
Lockeport to Lunenburg NS
Before leaving Saint John I drove over to the reversing falls but I knew the timing wasn't right. I had to go at 3:00 am or 4:00 pm neither of which worked out. This is where the St John river flows into the Bay of Fundy. The tide goes out and then when it rushes back in, it forces the St John river to flow back on to itself, reversing it's direction. I understand it is quite the sight.
385 kms
Lockeport NS
around Lunenberg area
Big cat-looking rock outside my door.
Excited for today! The weather is beautiful for a boat ride!
The Fundy Rose came to take us across the Bay of Fundy 2 1/2 hour trip. It got creepy when the fog got very thick and the captain blew the fog horn every 2 minutes.
Lockeport NS
DAY 30 July 18
Lunenburg Academy built 1893-95. Operated as a school until 2012.
Lunenburg has all the tourist stuff. The Newfoundland mussels were awesome!
DAY 28 July 16
The Bluenose II was built in 1963, 17 years after the loss of the original and has become Nova Scotia's sailing ambassador.
Lockeport NS
The water can't be to cold. These two young boys were out on their boggie boards for an hour or two riding the waves. BRRRR
Boats, boats and more boats!
Stayed around my cabin and beach all day!!
Lunenberg to Lockeport NS
This was on the side of the community beach building. Cool!
DAY 21 July 9
DAY 20 July 8
My beach again on a sunny day. Very few people on it all day. The closest town is only 900 population and very much a fishing village.
Grand Falls on the way.
Saint John NB to Edmunston NB
They raised 4 of the 8 sails. Lovely 2 hour cruise and the crew were wonderful. Woman captain just learning I think. The older fellow stood by her the whole time.
5 kms
Came across the Walls name twice on the way to Lunenburg. Roofing company and a lake.
Lunenburg has some very steep roads.
DAYS 23-25 July 11-13
I had a lot of time to catch the ferry at 5:30. Drove around the western tip of Nova Scotia to the ferry at Digby on the Bay of Fundy. Lots of coves/bays and fishing villages.
