Panorama Amethyst Mine near Thunder Bay.  You can buy pieces or go find your own for $4 a pound.

Sunny, 34 degrees.  Headed north from Swift Current to the Great Sand Hills.  Then back down to Medicine Hat.  Who knew Saskatchewan had this area of 1900 sq kms.  My legs would not let me walk very far into them.

 

 

HOME SWEET HOME !!!

This trip has been absolutely awesome.  I wish I had spent more time in certain places but it was still wonderful.  Mentally refreshing, physically tough.  Thanks to all that followed me through this journey !!

Foggy then pouring rain !!! Then thunder and lightning !!!

After heading south, I went through Moose Mountain Prov Park.  This is Kenosee Lake.  Beautiful little village.

The sheep were way out in the fields.

DAY 57 JULY 19
Cochran AB to Vernon BC
553 kms

The locals.  Pronghorns.

This is the same road as Day 11.  Had all types of weather.  Dense fog, rain and sunny.  16 degrees.  Not much new.  Went into small towns on Lake Superior and found another waterfall.

Manitoba.  First thing I got was a mosquito bite. LOL

Saskatchewan has a lot of bugs out in the country.

DAY 51 JULY 13
Thunder Bay to Dryden ON
450 kms


Same as Day 9 with more.  

I was able to climb on one of the dunes.

 

I need a car wash.  Monty had it looking so good in Ottawa.  He even sprayed my tires and made them look brand new.  Sorry my friend LOL

 

Crop fields are in bloom.  Canola is yellow, flax is blue.  Also salt fields. 

Heading into a storm.  It was heavy rain and lightning in the distance.  No side trips today.

 

DAY 49 JULY 11
Sault Ste Marie to Wawa ON
275 kms

Drove back up to the Trans-Canada highway to Swift Current. 

 Went to the Swift Current farmers market.

Alberta can also be very flat.

Swift Current SK to Medicine Hat AB
325 kms

Went through a local museum.  Want to go to this dentist ? LOL

 

Stopped in Banff to take the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain.  Always want to do it.

Same road as Day 10.  Some new stuff.

 

Couldn’t get across a really busy street to get a better shot of Husky the muskie.

Picking field.  If you sprayed water over this area, it would shine purple.

They make amazing products along with the usual rugs etc.

 

 

I am starting to get anxious to be home.  I decided today to go the trans-Canada highway for awhile before heading along the southern route.  

The kangaroos had enough sense to stay under cover from the rain.

Or get a hair perm with this machine ?

Cleared up after I got to the hotel. First sight of the Rockies.
